Pecus Economy started with mapping the main regions of animal production in Brazil to identify and describe the most important production systems in these areas, specifying the operations involved, technical coefficients, inputs, machinery and equipments, labor, cultures and other variables necessary to calculate production costs.

The resulting information will be used in mathematical modeling to optimize prioritary production systems and evaluate possible effects of management techniques that might be used to reduce GHG emissions. Such models will allow the study of future scenarios that might contribute for regional planning and the establishment of public policies to be implemented regarding GHG mitigation programs.

Information obtained in this project are relevant to the fulfillment of GHG reduction targets (NAMAS) assumed by the Brazilian government at the COP-15 (Copenhagen Climate Change Conference -2009).
