Meeting the expectations of a globalized world.

The results of the PECUS project should meet the current demand from several research networks and inventories of Anthropic Emission and Removal of Greenhouse Gas, at different scales of approach.

The main expected outcomes of the PECUS research network are:
·         estimative of the contribution of the different animal production systems used in Brazil to the dynamics of greenhouse gases (GHG);
·         identification of competitive and sustainable animal production systems;
·         estimative of the mitigation potential of pastures and forest components of improved cattle farming systems;
·         indication of the nutrition ingredients, or feed additives that reduce enteric methane emissions;
·         promotion of better management methods for native pasture areas which allow sustainable animal production and preservation of the local        biodiversity;
·         contribution to the preservation of important Brazilian biomes, such as the Pantanal, Caatinga and the Pampa; and
·         organized and analyzed data that meet the needs of our commercial partners, scientific community, society at large, and those responsible for the national and regional inventories of anthropic emission and removal of GHG, avoiding the use of GHG emission standards inappropriate to the Brazilian conditions.

The creation, strengthening and broadening of scientific partnerships with other countries are also antecipated as important results.
